The Fund
The JBS Fund for the Amazon is a Brazilian not-for-profit civil association dedicated to promoting and financing initiatives and projects whose aim is the sustainable development of the Amazon Biome, encouraging the conservation and sustainable use of the forest, , improvements in the quality of life of the population residing there and development by using technology and applied science.
Three fronts are supported:

FOREST CONSERVATION AND RESTORATION
With initiatives dedicated to:
1 Working towards forest restoration, remediation and conservation in the Amazon Biome;
2 Increasing the productivity of the areas already exploited;
3 Promoting the creation of agri-ecological systems (the focus is on managing production with environmental conservation, biodiversity, biological cycles and quality of life).

SOCIOECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMMUNITIES
With initiatives focused on:
1 Encouraging and driving bio-economy programs for the development of the communities;
2 Promoting actions that generate social inclusion and higher incomes for the local communities;
3 Developing local education and healthcare.

SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
With initiatives designed to:
1 Invest in applied science to support sustainable development and to engage the production sectors (with focus on generating business);
2 Promote and accelerate the use of innovative technologies that combine wealth generation and respect for the environment.
